How CoTrading uses cookies and similar technologies on cotrading.io

2026/07/01

Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how CoTrading uses cookies and similar technologies on the cotrading.io website.

This policy applies to the cotrading.io website. The CoTrading desktop application is local-first and does not use website advertising or targeting cookies.

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to the website owners.

Types of Cookies We Use

We do not use advertising or cross-site targeting cookies, and we do not sell or share your browsing data with advertising networks.

Essential Cookies

Always on. These are required for the website to function and cannot be switched off.

  • Session cookies for maintaining your signed-in session
  • Security cookies for protecting against fraud and abuse

We also store your cookie choice and your theme and language preferences in your browser's local storage. This never leaves your device.

Analytics

We measure traffic with three tools, which are treated differently:

  • Umami — a self-hosted, privacy-focused analytics tool running on our own infrastructure. It sets no cookies and does not track you across other websites. It records page views, referrer, approximate region, and device type. Because it is cookieless, it runs without requiring your consent.
  • Google Analytics 4 — sets cookies and is therefore off by default. It only loads after you press "Accept" on the cookie banner. If you choose "Essential only", or ignore the banner, the Google Analytics script is never requested at all.
  • Microsoft Clarity — records anonymised session replays and heatmaps (mouse movement, clicks, scrolling) so we can see where the interface confuses people. It sets the _clck and _clsk cookies and is therefore also off by default, loading only after you press "Accept". Clarity masks text input by default, so what you type into forms is not captured.

If you are signed in, we pass your account identifier — a random, non-guessable string — to these tools so we can understand how a single account moves through the product. We do not send your email address, your name, or any trading data.

Managing Cookies

You can change your analytics choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which makes the cookie banner appear again on your next visit.

Most web browsers also allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can:

  • Delete cookies from your device
  • Block cookies by activating the setting on your browser that allows you to refuse all or some cookies
  • Set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie

Please note that if you block or delete essential cookies, you may not be able to sign in or use certain areas of the website.

Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Cookie Policy on this page.
